nonprofit environmental education
center and National Historic
Landmark on the shores of Lake Champlain. Visitors may
enjoy the walking trails, children’s farmyard, restaurant,

Museum, founded in 1947, is one of the nation's most
eclectic museums
of art, Americana, architecture, and artifacts. Thirty-nine
galleries and exhibition structures display over 150,000 objects
spanning four centuries. Outstanding collections of folk art,
decorative arts, tools, toys, textiles, and transportation
vehicles are exhibited in tandem with paintings by
artists such as Monet, Manet, Cassatt, Degas, Andrew Wyeth,
Thomas Cole, Winslow Homer, Grandma Moses, and many others. The
museum's 25 19th-century structures include a covered bridge, a
round barn, a lighthouse, and a 220-foot restored steamboat that
is a National Historic Landmark.

Ethan Allen Homestead - E
ncounter Vermont's
colorful founder and Revolutionary War hero, and experience
frontier life with guided tours of the 1787 farmhouse, multi-media
show in a recreated tavern, and museum exhibits. Located in
a 284-acre public park 5 minutes from downtown Burlington.
The Birds of Vermont Museum - V
iew this
natural history museum based on wood carvings of the state's
birds. Founder and talented naturalist/artist, Bob Spear has
spent 18 years creating the first 172 exhibits. On exhibit
are more than 3
50
biologically accurate wooden carvings of over 200 species
of birds, including Vermont's nesting birds in natural habitat,
displays with actual nests and wooden eggs, wetland birds,
raptors, a gallery of extinct and endangered birds of the
North. Explore the surrounding bird sanctuary/nature preserve
and watch live birds through a one-way window.
Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium -
The Fairbanks
Museum & Planetarium is northern New England’s premiere
museum of natural history. St. Johnsbury industrialist Franklin
Fairbanks founded the Museum in 1889. A lifelong amateur naturalist,
Fairbanks collected examples of nature's artistry and diversity
throughout the world. To this day, the collections of Franklin
Fairbanks remain the backbone of northern New England's largest
museum of natural history. With comprehensive collections
of birds and wildlife, as well as dolls, dinosaurs, tools
and toys, it's got something for everyone! Vermont’s only
public planetarium.

Old Stone House Museum -
This monumental granite structure was built in the 1830s and
is home to our nation’s first African-American college graduate.
Today it houses artifacts of the region’s past. Located in
the Brownington Historic District, the museum is open from
May 15 through October 15.
Vermont Ski Museum, Stowe --
Vermont has a rich skiing heritage.
Whether or not you are a fan of the sport, you will enjoy a
visit to the museum located in the historic Old Town Hall
located in the center of the Stowe Village.
