Hildene - Robert Todd Lincoln's "Hildene,"
home of Abraham Lincoln's descendants until 1975. Tour the
restored Georgian Revival mansion. Hear the 1908 Aeolian organ.
The original furnishings and personal family effects are still
intact. Bring your camera and photograph the many picturesque
views in the formal garden.
Historic Grafton Village - A lovingly restored 19th
century community considered one of the finest examples of
rural New England architecture. Explore self-guided nature
trails and hiking trails. Or tour the Nature Museum, full
of exhibits carefully designed to promote curiosity and be
engaging. They communicate an understanding about local and
world wide environments - their fossils, birds, mammals, minerals,
habitats, botany, and more.
American Museum of Fly Fishing - Not just for anglers,
this museum’s collections and exhibits provide the public
with thorough documentation of the evolution of fly-fishing
as a sport, art form, craft, and industry in the United States
and abroad from the sixteenth century to present. Rods, reels,
and flies, as well as tackle, art, books, manuscripts, and
photographs form the major components of the Museums collections.
Especially notable are the beautiful flies of Mary Orvis Marbury,
as well as more than 1000 rods and reels owned by such well-known
people as Daniel Webster, Bing Crosby, Ernest Hemingway, and
presidents Hoover and Eisenhower. The museum supports a publications
program through which its national quarterly journal, The
American Fly Fisher, and books, art prints, and catalogs
are regularly offered to the public.
