SOUTHERN VERMONT THEATER

Dorset Playhouse - Be sure to add to your itinerary a night at the Dorset Playhouse! Over the 70 years of production, the Players have staged elaborate musicals, light comedies, children’s shows, mysteries, and engaging dramas. It has been designated a Top 10 Summer Event by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. Plan for an evening in this historic, recently restored, air-conditioned Playhouse. For program click HERE

The Marlboro Music Festival - For a truly unique experience, enjoy a repertoire of classical music that is often quite magical in a setting that is always 'pure Vermont'. Each summer for over 50 years, on a rural hilltop in Marlboro, Vermont, master concert artists have gathered with exceptional young professionals on the campus of Marlboro College. The senior artists rehearse, learn, study and play side-by-side in chamber ensembles with their young colleagues, passing on vital artistic insights firsthand. The weekend concerts include just a few of the 60-80 works in rehearsal each week. Marlboro Music is led by its Artistic Directors, along with present and past members of the Guarneri, Juilliard, Orion and Mendelssohn String Quartets and Beaux Arts and Mannes Trios "Marlboro was the place where I decided to become a musician. Living through these summers, experiencing the great chamber music literature for the first time, led me to a commitment to music that I could not have received from one school or one teacher." -- Yo-Yo Ma
